Most of us across the web use free article directories to gain both an increase in visitors and free one way links for their website or blog. People are likely to sign up for a bunch. But I have realized that some directories will let you enter articles with just a user name and password while others want to know where you live. So I just thought that why would an article directory need your home address? What purpose do they want with it?

Well some article directories will mail you little items from time to time like glasses, t-shirts and notepads with their company name on it. Are you going to use any of that stuff? Heck no.

I could understand if the article directory were going to pay you for your article by check then it would make sense. But I do not know of any article directories that pays.

Then there are article directory that sell your address to businesses that will send you junk mail and sorts. Have you signed up for a bunch of article directories and noticed an increase in junk mail? That is where it is likely to come from.

They definitely not coming over your home to visit you. Eat dinner and be your friend and keep you company. So why do they ask for your address? Who really knows the answer but I would not give up my home residence until I inspected carefully.

They are free article directory and they should ask for unique articles and not your residence. The deal is that webmasters give you articles and in return you get free links to your site and maybe some web traffic. Where that writer live should not matter. If they dislike your article then they can simply reject it and they do not need your address to do that. They are not going to call the article cops to my home right?

So the next time your thinking about registering for another article directory service that ask for your home address just do a little research on them first. See what problems people may have had before you give up your address.
